Even with the coronavirus and all that comes with it threatening the festive fun, Halloween hasn’t ghosted us yet! There are plenty of ways for you to celebrate this spooky holiday while staying safe at home.
Whether you’re planning an adult-only fright night or a child friendly fun-filled day, we have some great ideas for Halloween 2020.
1. Video-Call Costume Party
After 6 months of social distancing, I think it’s fair to say we’ve all got the video-call parties down by now. If you’re looking for a way to celebrate with your extended family and friends, host a Halloween-themed costume party!
You can boogie to some spooktacular songs, chat while you craft some creepy decorations or carve out pumpkins, or share some scary stories.
2. Scary Movie Marathon
Grab some spooky snacks, pop the popcorn and stick on your favourite scary movie! This one can be enjoyed with your nearest and dearest on Netflix party, a drive-in cinema or simply with your family in the living room.
For adults-only parties here are some great recommendations, but if you have some little ones present, it’s probably best to stick to the movies that won’t keep them up at night.
3. Pumpkin Picking
Carving out a pumpkin with some fangtastic faces is an age-old Halloween tradition, but over the past few years, picking your own pumpkin has grown in popularity in the UK too.
It’s a great way to spend an afternoon with the family getting into the Halloween spirit, and Lancashire has lots of great pumpkin patches for you to visit.
This is an activity you can do whilst keeping safe and socially distanced, with cashless payments and plenty of hand sanitiser.
4. Socially Distanced Trick-Or-Treating
The dream of trick-or-treating isn’t dead just yet, we have a few ideas that will allow you to keep this Halloween tradition while staying safe from COVID-19.
Set up a decorated treats table outside of your house for trick-or-treaters to pick up individual party bags or cups filled with sweets. This will add to your haunted-house decorations and keep contact to a minimum.
Another amazing idea we’ve seen is a candy chute! Using a long tube that runs from your house to a spot at least 2 meters away, you can send sweets down the chute to your visitors without going anywhere near them! Genius – right? You can decorate the tube to match your other spooky decorations too.
