The car park at The Hub at Buckshaw is a private car park for staff and clients of The Hub only. Our barrier system was designed and installed to deter unauthorised parking, which limits the spaces available for genuine visitors. The system has been kept as simple and quick to use as reasonably possible, and this guide explains everything you need to know.

Safety comes first

The safety of our clients, visitors and staff is of the utmost importance, so please follow a few simple rules to make sure the barrier system is used safely.

The system is designed to control the flow of vehicles on and off the car park. It is not designed to detect people walking in the roadway or passing under the barriers. It uses a series of vehicle loop sensors installed within the road surface, and these do not detect pedestrians or cyclists.

Pedestrians and cyclists must use the pavement access to the right of the vehicle entrance. The barriers are automatic and could strike a pedestrian or cyclist in the roadway, as they are not detected by the system's safety sensors.

How to enter the car park

Drive slowly up to the IN barrier and stop. The barrier will automatically be raised to allow you to enter the car park. Wait until the barrier warning lights change from red to green before proceeding, and the barrier will lower again as you clear the entrance.

When you have made a purchase or attended one of our facilities or activities, please obtain a token from Nursery, Cappuccino's, Splash or The Salon. You will need this token to lift the barrier when you leave.

How to exit the car park with a token

Drive slowly up to the OUT barrier and stop. Insert the token into the token mechanism. The token has two slots that line up with slots in the mechanism. The barrier will automatically be raised to allow you to leave. Wait until the barrier warning lights change from red to green before proceeding off the car park, and the barrier will lower as you clear the exit.

On exiting, please do not tailgate the vehicle in front of you. The barrier is set to close as each vehicle leaves the site, so following closely behind the car in front is likely to result in damage to your vehicle.

Using the intercom

An intercom is fitted above the token mechanism. If you have any difficulty exiting the car park, please press the intercom button and wait for assistance.

How the tokens work

The token mechanism is designed to accept only the tokens issued by The Hub. Using a different token or a coin will jam the mechanism. A stuck token can be rejected by pushing the round button under the token slot.

Each token has two slots cut into it, and the mechanism will accept the token either way round. The tokens do, however, need to be inserted with the slots roughly horizontal, so that they line up with the token mechanism.
