With spring finally in the air the children have been busy planting seeds in our on-site Vegetable Garden!
Here at Buckshaw Village Nursery we believe that getting children to grow their own fruit and vegetables not only teaches them where food comes from and the importance of eating healthily, but can also teaches them how to nurture and cultivate their plants to help them grow.
The children have really enjoyed planting vegetables in preparation for the upcoming growing season and are looking forward to seeing (and eating!) the end results. We’re currently growing:
Paula, manager at Buckshaw Village Nursery said, “Getting the children growing in nursery is about so many things: developing skills and providing practical experience, giving access to fresh healthy food, and the opportunity to spend time outdoors and be active. What’s more it’s great fun!”
We’ve also now got our own compost heap to ensure all our food waste at The Hub is responsibly recycled.
