Children from the Hub Club planting herbs in the new garden at Cappuccino cafe, The Hub Buckshaw

Published 2013-04-11

There was plenty of mucky fun at The Hub this week as the children from our Hub Club helped to plant a brand new herb garden at our Cappuccino cafe. Little hands were happy to get muddy as everyone dug in and planted a fine crop of fresh herbs.

Getting muddy in the new herb garden

The Hub Club children set to work planting a lovely selection of herbs in our new garden, including bay leaves, thyme, rosemary, basil and more. Getting stuck into the soil is one of the best ways for children to learn where food comes from, and there was lots of giggling as everyone got their hands dirty. To say a big thank you for all their hard work, the children were treated to cookies and biscuits once the planting was done.

The herbs the children planted included:

  • Bay leaves
  • Thyme
  • Rosemary
  • Basil
  • And more

Fresh organic herbs for the Cappuccino kitchen

Our new herb garden is not just for show. It means the team at Cappuccino can pick fresh organic herbs and use them straight away in the kitchen. From here on, our herbs will be adding lovely flavour to soups, stews and other tasty dishes on the menu, so you can enjoy the results of the children's efforts next time you visit.
