Our commitment to safeguarding

At Buckshaw Village Nursery we pride ourselves on following proven best practice guidelines, whilst keeping up to date with latest thinking in care and education, in order to achieve and maintain the very best reputation possible.

To this effect we have developed a number of policies that are approved by Ofsted, and are constantly reviewed to ensure that we are always up to date. Our Child Protection Policy sits at the centre of that work, keeping children safe within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework that shapes our care.

Families from Buckshaw Village, Chorley, Leyland, Euxton, Preston and Whittle-le-Woods choose us for warm, professional care that puts children first, just off the M6 with free parking on site.

What our Child Protection Policy covers

Our policy sets out clear commitments that guide how everyone at the nursery keeps children safe, from recruitment through to everyday care.

A designated person for child protection

We maintain clear given roles and responsibilities for the designated person responsible for child protection issues. This means there is always a named lead who staff can turn to, who oversees concerns and who makes sure any suspicions of neglect are reported in accordance with our full Child Protection Procedures and guidance from relevant agencies.

Alongside the designated person, we set out and maintain the responsibilities of all employees in relation to child protection, so that every member of the team understands their part in keeping children safe.

Safe recruitment, training and a safe environment

Keeping children safe starts before a member of staff joins us. We practise safe recruitment, checking the suitability of staff to work with children, and once they are part of the team we provide ongoing information, training and supervision.

We also establish a safe environment in which children can learn and develop safely. You can see how this works in practice across our nursery facilities and in our secure reception area, which help keep the setting safe and welcoming every day.

Working openly with parents

We believe safeguarding works best when families are informed and involved. We share information with parents prior to starting at Buckshaw Village Nursery, so you know how we care for your child and how our policies protect them.

If you would like to read our policies or talk through any aspect of child protection, please contact the team or complete our nursery enquiry form. You can also explore how safeguarding fits within our wider provision, from our EYFS approach to our support for children with SEND.
