We believe that healthy eating is extremely important in the development of young children. We cater for all types of dietary requirements and are committed to offering children healthy nutritious and balanced meals. We recognise that children should be able to enjoy food as well as learn good behaviours for the future.
All meals are planned for a balanced nutritional diet and are freshly cooked on the premises. Wherever possible we ‘harvest’ our own fruit and vegetables which are grown on-site in the Veg Garden.
Menus are carefully planned to provide children with their ‘5 a day.’ We avoid foods containing high levels of saturated fat, sugar, salt or artificial additives, flavourings, preservatives or colourings.
Staff support children to understand how to make healthy choices. Ofsted Inspection Report 2016
We have Summer and Winter Menu’s which are rotated on a four-weekly basis and are displayed daily on the Parents Notice Board in the main corridor.
The Social aspect of mealtimes is emphasised, with Staff sitting at the tables with children in small groups in order to encourage conversation, and to assist when the children are of an age where they can start to self-select their meals. The sharing of refreshments play an important part in the social life of children.
